“Heather was an absolute star. On top of being an incredibly kind person she is also a very gifted midwife. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to attend my at home water birth; I felt supported in every way I needed. “To add to my glowing review of Heather, she manually removed a piece of retained placenta alongside fist sized blood clots after I hemorrhaged post birth. Despite losing an estimated 2L of blood, Heather had the entire situation under control by the time the ambulance arrived and I never once felt panicked or afraid. Heather advocated for me receiving a blood transfusion and when the hospital declined she made sure I received iron transfusions instead.”

“Heather was also the first to notice that our baby was having issues latching on one her post birth visits and sent us to a lactation consultant. That recommendation saved baby and I both from frustrating feeds. The lactation consultant quickly figured out that baby was tongue tied and had us in for a frenectomy that instantly saved my sore nipples and enabled baby to form a proper latch.

Overall I felt properly informed and at ease with, Heather and would absolutely recommend a Passages Midwife to anyone considering it.”

“Melissa was amazing to work with. Being a first time mom I had a lot of questions and concerns. She was patient, caring and knowledgeable. She took the time to answer all of my questions and if she didn’t have the answer she found it for me in a timely manner. She responded promptly and confidently to complications at the end of my pregnancy and post delivery which decreased my fears and looking back created such a positive birth story for me and my husband. “For my first baby, I was transferred to an OB’s care and had to have several medical interventions. I didn’t realize until I had Melissa as my midwife for my second baby that the experience could be so much better! For example, her careful explanation of what was happening during a membrane sweep and her reassurance that we could stop at any time was so calming; you can get pressured into making panicked choices by other professionals but I feel like midwives really give you the information and the autonomy to make thoughtful choices.”
