Love for our Midwives

I feel it was fate that my midwife from my second pregnancy, Samantha, started working at Passages Midwifery in time for my third pregnancy! It was fate because over 30 years ago Noreen was one of my midwives at my home birth!! So incredibly sentimental!

Samantha is an absolutely amazing midwife. Words can’t describe how fabulous she is- you need to meet her to experience her zest for life, positivity, kind heart, compassion and overall how genuine she is…(continued below)

After having my first child in the hospital and having my second at home; comparing both experiences, I would HANDS DOWN take a midwife and home birth again. My midwife- Megan was amazing, she made me feel safe, capable and supported. I don’t even have the words to express how thankful I am that we have midwives available to us and how thankful I am for the one I had. I’m ever so grateful!
I had such a positive home/water birthing experience with Melanna Mamo with the birth of my first son, and I feel so lucky to be under her care again, as I’m expecting another little boy in a few months. It is my hope that every woman can work in partnership with such a skilled and informed, yet “chill” (truly “chill,” for lack of a better word to describe Melanna’s wonderfully calm demeanor!) professional. Thank you, Passages!
I was so blessed to have Melanna as my first midwife and she gave me the confidence to have a home water VBAC 😊 and then I had Heather for my second VBAC and she gave me totally different confidence to love and trust myself again after such a huge loss. I’m the mama I am today because of the women at Passages ❤️
I was blessed to have had Samantha Stupak as my midwife for baby number three. As it was my third I almost always had additional littles in tow and she was always so accommodating and patient. I was given information about every option available to me and was informed and trusted to make all the decisions with confidence. We were able to welcome our girl in the heart of our home surrounded by family. What I am most grateful for is the support I was given after the birth when by girl was not able to gain weight. She helped to support me so we could have a successful breastfeeding journey. It was not easy but Sams support made all the difference when I was tempted to give up. I will be forever grateful for my experience with Passages and Sam.

Sam, throughout both my pregnancies and births was always calm, knowledgeable and very organized! My third birth wasn’t going as I had expected (my second birth was so quick and easy, I had visualized an even better third birth!) and Sam was calm, confident and had different positions and suggestions of what to do to help get baby joining our world! And all her suggestions worked!! Sam is so easy to talk to- no question is silly and she always takes as much time as needed during clinic. I also love all the handouts she provides with excellent information to help be as prepared as possible for baby! Thanks Sam for being such an important part of our lives with welcoming our babies into our home! We are forever grateful! ❤️

Melanna and Haley
Melanna Mamo was so composed and calm throughout my long, drawn out, labour. She kept my spirits up and never doubted me for a second. Melanna made our home birth comfortable and easygoing even when things got (almost) too much for me to handle. My husband and I appreciated her patience and kind kind heart. ❤️ thank you Melanna again, for guiding us perfectly in bringing baby Haley to this world.

Having Megan as our midwife was such a blessing and a gift. She was supportive, informative and made me feel safe and comfortable.

I cannot say enough about my experience with Passages Midwifery and my midwife Melanna Mamo. When I became pregnant with our first baby I knew right away that I wanted a midwife. The waiting list was long for the Edmonton area. Our prayers were finally answered when we got a call from Passages when I was 17 weeks along. Melanna immediately made us feel confident in ourselves and in her skill to guide us through this home birth journey. As we got closer I became more excited and confident, instead of anxious, thanks to Melanna’s guidance. Labor and birth were beautiful, peaceful and full of love. Melanna’s gentle and encouraging coaching was in perfect symmetry with what I needed. Our sweet baby boy William was born into this world on January 10, 2018, and we can’t thank our midwife enough for caring so well for all of us.

Melanna was absolutely wonderful to work with! She is very caring and compassionate towards her Moms. She is also incredibly knowledgeable and comforting. I never felt like just another patient to Melanna, she truly cares for each one of us and you can see that! I’m sad that I won’t be having anymore babies because it means I won’t be able to have Melanna as my midwife again!

Melanna was one of the only reason I was able to stay balanced through my whole pregnancy. From the first moment we spoke at our first meeting to the after care of our daughter. It was my first pregnancy and I didn’t have my mom with me. I felt like I always had the support I needed and she answered all of my “I feel silly” questions. She was so calm and reassuring and knew when to make me laugh and when to keep me going. I am so thankful for the referrals I had to come to this wonderful place and so amazed by the people involved who make all of these families what they are. 💖
